THE GATHERING of the Roman Abbots in the Americas happens each year in February. The Abbot Primate presides over the gathering. I feel very fortunate to be invited each year to the meeting. I have always been welcomed and shown wonderful hospitality. Just received a picture taken during the gathering of Abbots and Priors prior to the announced pandemic. The picture is taken in front of what was the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. The Roman Diocese purchase the cathedral for under $3 million and had to bring it to code for another $44 million [if I remember it correctly]. I am not a fan of contemporary architecture, but I must say they did a beautiful job, very tasteful. Another $2 million was spent sending the organ to Ruffatti organ builders in Italy for refurbishing and cleaning. Approximately 12,000 people attend the cathedral weekly.
